Why we measure first

Most of what goes wrong in cycling equipment goes wrong before the box is opened. The saddle was the wrong width before it was ordered. The shoes were the wrong volume before they shipped. The aerobars never had a chance of fitting that base bar. The industry calls these returns; we call them measurements that never happened.

The three usual suspects

Saddles. Sit-bone width is a skeletal fact, not a preference, and it varies by more than 40 mm between riders. No amount of riding adapts you to a saddle narrower than your bones. Measuring takes five minutes with a piece of corrugated card — or thirty in the shop, where we also look at how you actually sit, because a rider who rotates forward into an aero position loads a saddle completely differently from one who does not.

Shoes. Everyone knows their length. Almost nobody knows their volume, and volume is where shoes fail: a low-volume foot swims in a high-volume shoe no matter how hard you crank the dial, and a high-volume foot in a narrow last goes numb by hour two. This is also why we carry genuine 4E wide fittings — the width most brands pretend does not exist.

Aerobars. The least forgiving purchase in cycling. Extensions need an adapter matched to your exact base bar, a tilt chosen for your position, and reach and stack that pass the UCI height categories if you race under them. Get one variable wrong and you own an expensive part that cannot go back.

Why we charge for it

Our fitting fee is credited in full against whatever the session leads to — so if the measurement leads to a purchase, the fitting was free. We charge because a free fitting is a browsing appointment, and because the measuring is the part with value. The parts are available to anyone; knowing which one is yours is not.

And on Wove saddles the measurement comes with a safety net: thirty days on real roads, returnable even ridden.

Book a session in the shop in Caguas, or by video from anywhere in the Caribbean or the mainland. Bring the socks you race in.
