About

Una casa de selección en Caguas, Puerto Rico. Del Caribe pa'l mundo.

Maison Watt exists because of a frustration most riders on this island will recognise.

If you want something genuinely good here — a saddle that fits your body, kit cut for your position, a cockpit measured rather than guessed — you order it blind from a website five time zones away, wait, hope, and often send it back. O compras lo que el distribuidor local tenga, which is the same four brands everyone else is riding.

Queríamos una tercera opción. Así que la construimos.

What the name means

Maison is a house — an atelier, somewhere things are chosen and made rather than moved through. Watt is the only number that matters on a bike.

Those two ideas sit at opposite ends of cycling and we think the best equipment lives where they meet: craft you can see, backed by numbers you can check. Con sol caribeño encima.

Curated, not distributed

Most shops carry what their distributor sells them. The catalogue arrives, the same brands appear on the same walls, and everyone competes on how much they will take off.

Esta casa corre al revés. Every house we carry was chosen — usually after riding the alternatives — and in most cases we are the only place in the Caribbean you can buy it. Cádomotus, Bioracer, Wove, Gemini, AeroCoach, Quick Pro, No.6, Polymer, OVERFAST.

They have almost nothing in common except that each is the best answer we found to a specific problem, and each is made by people small enough to care.

What that costs you

Worth saying plainly, because it is not all upside.

Our range is narrower than a big shop's. Some things are made to order and take weeks. No damos descuentos, nunca — not as a policy we are proud of but because these houses do not permit it and because we think a component worth its price in March is worth it in November.

What you get in exchange is equipment that fits you, that you chose rather than settled for, y que no será idéntico a las otras cuarenta bicis del grupetazo del domingo.

Aquí se mide primero

Saddles, shoes and aerobars are the three things riders most often buy wrong, and they are the three things we sell most of. That is not a coincidence — it is the reason the fitting room exists.

Sit-bone width. Foot volume. Aerobar reach against UCI limits. Quince minutos a una hora que deciden si una compra seria funciona o se queda en la gaveta. It is the part of this business we care most about, and it is the part no website can copy.

The showroom

Three hundred square feet in Caguas, by appointment.

Small on purpose. We would rather put the money into the things on the wall and into the time we spend with you than into a floor big enough to browse. Cuando vienes, el cuarto es tuyo.

Come to be measured, to try a saddle, to look at kit samples, or to talk through a build. No a que te vendan.

Correr aquí es distinto

Most cycling equipment is designed in northern Europe for spring classics. Lo nuestro se corre a treinta grados y ochenta y cinco por ciento de humedad, en carreteras caribeñas, todo el año.

Kit that breathes in Belgium does not always breathe here. A shoe that drains matters more than a shoe that is stiff. A deep wheel behaves differently in a north coast crosswind than in a wind tunnel.

Nosotros corremos aquí, so we know which of it holds up. That is worth more than any specification sheet.

Who we are

Maison Watt is run by Brandon Zavala.

He raced as a junior and won the Puerto Rican national road race championship, then signed with a Pro Continental team and spent his early twenties racing in Europe. He came home to start a family, and stopped.

At thirty he started again, in triathlon. This year he was the fastest Puerto Rican at 70.3 Puerto Rico, won the national triathlon championship, and took third in his age group at the national road race.

So when we say we ride what we sell, lo decimos de una manera específica: every house in this room has been ridden, raced, or rejected by someone still trying to go faster — in this heat, on these roads, against a clock.
